Belen has over 20 years of experience in the biopharma industry and academia. She has deep knowledge of preclinical sciences, clinical development, and global regulatory affairs and submissions, and has led complex regulatory submissions, large product portfolios, and R&D programs. Belen most recently served as Head of Regulatory Affairs at Imvax, and before that was Head of Global Regulatory Affairs at Saniona. Belen spent 11 years at Pfizer where she held positions of increasing responsibility in Pfizer’s Global Regulatory Affairs Division, spearheading the submission strategy and controls for clinical data quality across major regulatory submissions for innovative products and biosimilars; and at the Biotherapeutics R&D Division where she was instrumental in building Pfizer’s BioTherapeutics entrepreneurial R&D units. Belen designed and developed Pfizer CURES, the foundation for SpringWorks Therapeutics, a Pfizer-conceived independent company. Belen holds a B.S. degree from Granada University, an M.S. in Molecular Biology from Cantabria University, a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Oxford, St John’s College, and was a post-doctoral fellow in Cellular Immunology at Harvard Medical School. She was a recipient of the 2021 Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Leadership Award, and a finalist for the 2015 Boston Innovation Awards (BostInno) “50 on Fire” in Healthcare & Medicine Innovation.
